Excerpt from Term Paper:

Keep in mind the Giants is very much based upon a true story; fact may back up almost all of the movie’s dramatic events somehow. However , nearly all time truthful events are presented in the film, they can be exaggerated or perhaps altered to help direct the audience towards a much better understanding of the film’s topics. For instance, Capital t. C. Williams High School was an attempt for forced integration, but not towards the extent portrayed in the film. The community was in turmoil, but is not so chaotic in their a reaction to the integration. These types of examples, where the film usually takes certain liberties, help to make the environment of Alexandria, Virginia at the time. They will over twist that environment, but nevertheless happen to be accurate inside their general display of the feeling among the diverse forces at play four decades ago Alexandria and T. C Williams Secondary school.

From the film’s point-of-view, these kinds of exaggerations are essential to drive residence the key factors. Remember the Titans intends to represent the unifying power of a team sport and how characters can expansion from becoming close minded stereotypes to admirable and open minded psychological individuals. This is an obvious stage of the film as in dramatic and center touching fashion, Emma Hoyt played by Kate Bosworth, has a very limited role though undergoes this kind of character alteration. The hyperbole is exemplified by Bertier as he, a great unblemished and revered star sportsperson in real world, is initially given a negative portrayal inside the film. Eventually, Bertier’s characterization as an excellent hero- a modest, accepting, honest team leader- applies and depending on historic accuracies. But to arrive at that point, film production company exaggerates, and so extra crisis and exaggeration are included in give even more emotional capacity to the people, places, and team’s involved in not only T. C. Williams Senior high school, but as well all of Alexandria, Virginia four decades ago. This could be taken a step further more as not only a reflection on one northern Virginian town, but instead on the racial conditions of the southern United states of america as entire in the late sixties and early 1970s.
