A cultural activist, article writer, teacher, and graduate from Queens College, Toni Cade, who have later changed legally to Toni Sabine Bambara, is one of the representatives from the Afro- American writers and black socially political dark activist in American record. She has manufactured many input to the urban city especially in her own parental input in Bed- Stuy, NEW YORK and Harlem where your woman was born, Mar 25, 1939. Growing up in what was the other of the roughest cities the lady managed to achieve life with her a large number of accomplishments although not without the help of her two dearest mentors for who she cared for greatly. Miss Naomi and Miss Gladys, both to whom were there during her adolescence to give her advice on life whether it be simple or complicated. Like in her famous, Gorilla Love my, she also published poetry, you might recognize a single her popular The Dark Woman.

(Morrison108-109).

Toni Cade Bambaras The Lessons is a short story about a group of small children in the inner-city experiencing what like when you are deprived of your world without limits, which I believe applies because I have experienced it first hand me personally without an individual their to demonstrate it in my experience. Sylvia, the primary character, has been taught a lesson in discrimination and what it is prefer to be out of poverty and in an increased class white society by simply Miss Moore, a close although not a true friend of her parents. Her cousin referred to as Sugar and her friends Rosie, Giraffe, Mercedes, FlyBoy, and Junebug accompanies Sylvia. In this account Toni Cade starts off by stating whos who then gets into the plot which usually takes place in a toy retail store. Miss Moore takes these to the store by cab, They head to Fith Avenue and in the cab Miss Moore tries to instruct Sylvia a lot of arithmetic since she requests her to achieve the taxi cab driver 10 percent of what she

owes like a tip.

After ignoring her, they each make it to the toy retail store and by now in the story Sylvia has turned many irritating remarks regarding others and comes away as a bully who generally seems to know almost all. She hesitates to get into a store because she’s not familiar with her surroundings then when she finally does the girl makes a fool of herself as her and two of her good friends fall in a store trying to get in noticing each of the neat and expensive gadgets they knew nothing about. Miss Moore is realizing all of this along with their frantic patterns except for Sylvia as your woman seems to get on and doesnt want Miss Moore for taking the pleasure of finding her take action this way being aware of where the lady comes from. But she knows nothing regarding the lesson being taught which can be the true climaxing of the story.

This brief story might be short but it also is very challenging to read. It really is one of those stories some may want to read once to obtain it and others may want to

look over it several times prior to them getting the main thought.

I think it also has much regarding stereotype plus the fact that it has to do with money plus the power the upper and even midsection class have got. I say this kind of because in this short history Sylvia stereotypes many personas in this story for example she states that Miss Moore is a faux with nappy hair. In addition, she claims that she is as well black in skin tone to state she is as black as knight. She also criticizes Aunt Gretchen because she says she’s sort of a dumb goofball that is the form of person you will send to perform some mischief. Let us not forget the manner in which she begins the beginning of the lesson as she claims everyone being as outdated and foolish or young and foolish, but the irony of computer is she was the foolish searching of them all along with her friends as compared with the upper and middle class whites not living in the ghetto because she do. They stereotype to.
