Intro
No two people are the same. Competition, ethnicity, sexuality, and age group are all factors that make persons different and unique. During this conventional paper, I will be discussing my own values, philosophy and customs, how I identify myself, and my frame of mind on diversity.
Family Beliefs, Beliefs, and Traditions
My loved ones is very different and originates from many different locations. My mother’s grandmother reached the United States coming from England once she was 18 and met my personal biological grand daddy. They lived in Montana in Flathead Of india Reservation.
That’s where my mother was born and raised. Once my mom was in high school, she attained my father who was a senior when she was a freshman. My dad’s distant relatives came to america from Ireland in europe and began their family in Montana. Both of my parents have some German in them as well as Norwegian, nevertheless the majority of my own heritage is usually Irish and Native American. My parents had my older brother and me personally when they had been very aged they struggled to develop up with small children.
Eventually, they got divorced and shifted apart from the other person.
When I was 2 years aged, my mom met and married my own stepfather and we all relocated to North Dakota. In this time We travelled to and fro between my personal mother in North Dakota and my father in Montana. I put in my university years in North Dakota and my own summers and Christmas in Montana with my dad. This was hard on me personally when I was young mainly because I had not any sense of what house was. My own mother and stepfather moved to Bismarck, North Dakota following having my personal little sibling and remained there right up until I remaining for college or university. When I was a freshman by UND that they got divorced. They were married for 18 years although decided it absolutely was the right decision to have separate lives. It was hard for me because my personal stepfather seemed he was not really my father any more, even though having been the one that raised me.
Mainly because my family has been split up many times, it has been hard for me to define whom my family can be. Because my own stepfather increased me since I was two years old, I actually consider him to be a big part of my family. My family was very spread out and segregated which meant that my immediate family was your people We considered to be my family. This included my mom, dad, stepdad, grandmother, and two brothers. My personal maternal grandma was on her behalf own following my grand daddy left and she were living with us to get a couple years.
When I was growing up, my stepfather was the biggest decision machine. My mom was obviously a stay at home mom and brought up the kids while my dad performed. When it came to budget and discipline, my stepfather was in fee. As children, we all realized my mother was the one which was simpler on all of us kids and my stepfather was the person to be tough. When it came to trying to find guidance, We would immediately head to my mom. She had not been only my personal mother, although she’s my best friend. I could talk to her about anything.
While i was tiny, my mother’s grandfather will tell us stories of his Indian tribe. He came from the Assiniboine Indian group and his superb grandfather was your chief in the tribe in one stage. The testimonies of our native ancestors always interested myself. He would take us to burial sites in the mountains and inform us urban legends. This started to be a type of habit for us to perform. Traditions were important for us because us is so small. Every chance we have to event is important. Mainly because my grandfather left while i was very little, this traditions stopped.
Personal Identity and Values
When it comes to being resolved by unknown people, I like to always be called by my 1st name. As I get older, this may change and i also would be known as Mrs or Ms. I do think that it is even more proper to get called Mrs or Ms in specialist settings and as I grow older.
For gender roles, my personal view is pretty outdated. Growing up, it was often clear with my family the women home and take care of the youngsters, while the daddy works and supports the family fiscally. My parent’s views are exactly the same, which is why my personal mother stayed at at home and raised the children. I know it really is becoming shared where the mother works similar to the father, butI think; as I get older Let me practice the same views and beliefs mother and father did. That is not mean that My spouse and i am against the views of feminism; I simply believe it is very important to children to become raised simply by family rather than daycare centers. My mom never reliable people to monitor her youngsters when we were little and her views have rubbed off upon me.
My spouse and i define myself as being 3rd party, self-relying, and strong. I possess gone through a large number of hard items in my life and I think it has helped me to be a solid person. The particular me one of a kind is my personal independence. From the time I was in high school, I’ve taken care of me and always sensed the need to do everything by myself. Because of this, I use always come off a bit rough around the edges. I had developed trouble making new friends because Some trust a large number of people and always thought people had alternate motives.
At some point I have discovered to give people the main advantage of the uncertainty and to trust others. I actually consider me to me a female, daughter, student, Catholic, good friend, sister, and a future registered nurse. From the set of identities over, I think being a student and a friend to be the most important in my life at this time. Each day I head to school and work hard to accomplish my aim of being a nurse. Along with going to class, We spend a lot of your time with my buddies.
Being a medical student is essential to me at this time and I was proud being at UND. The DARÜBER HINAUS nursing software is very competitive and I are proud to acquire gotten in. No one within my family works in the healthcare industry and my parents are very pleased with my achievements. I do not think We am unfortunate or humiliated about some of my social descriptors. I think the person I possess become plus the things I possess accomplished had been exactly what We planned for.
Diversity Thinking
Diversity to me means that every individual is different and has his / her own story. Being different means to be unique and have qualities that are not the same as everyone else. Diversity does not just include race and ethnicity, but I do think it also comes with their history, education, and interests.
My personal earliest experience of becoming racially aware was in middle institution. Formy first 6 years in elementary school, there was no range in the learners. My elementary school was small in a remote area. While i got to middle section school there were a couple Africa Americans and Native Americans. It absolutely was new to myself, but it was never problems. I had spent my high seasons on the booking, but I had not spent much time with other youngsters my age group. We go on a pond and the simply people around were my family. My parents trained me to never judge a person in what is on the exterior. I think North Dakota overall is not very culturally various and I got no encounter outside of my children and the persons I attended school with. This in a negative way affected habit towards other ethnic organizations because of how sheltered I had been when I was younger.
After working a lot of my time on an Indian reservation, I have felt uncomfortable in a few circumstances. Alcoholism can be described as big problem around the reservation i lived on and my parents often made sure We never proceeded to go anywhere only. I think this experience leaves me with a bias from this ethnic minority group. Dependency on alcohol in Natives is not only widespread on my booking, but throughout many concerns in the Midwest. This stereotype has affected me like a adolescent, but as an adult studying to become a health professional it has trained me to never be judgmental.
The way people look on the outside should not be a determinant how they should be cured. I could enhance my knowledge of a person of selection by around myself with a variety of people. This will cause me to feel more conscious of the morals of other cultures. Being aware can help myself as a nurse to Like a nurse, I will always place bias besides and deal with my individuals with the care they need. I will also be sincere of different ethnicities and beliefs while taking care of patients.
Conclusion
Overall, I think culture can be something that gives people together. It not just makes people unique inside their own way, but it causes them to be feel like that they belong to something. I know that being surrounded by people that imagine the same issues I do is definitely comforting. On the other hand, being around people that will vary allows us to discover cultural variety.
