In today’s society many people question how come Christians study the Bible and how they will consider it being authoritative. Culture makes the Scriptures out to seem like it is a made book or some sort of story book.

Being able to argue that it is not a fairy tale, you must consider the authority, creativity, and inerrancy of the Bible as a whole. Power is “the power to offer orders, help to make decisions: the power or right to direct or perhaps control an individual or something”(Merriam-Webster). What does this mean to say that the Bible has power, and via where does the authority with the Bible come from? In responding to these concerns we need to remember that the Scriptures is claimed to be authored by God through forty-four distinct men which it was drafted over a 1500-1600 year course. Therefore the Scriptures itself may be the spoken words and phrases of God, showing His authority in print. “Because the Bible items beyond alone to The almighty, it has a conferred authority.

The Bible provides a real power in itself while the traditional embodiment of God’s self-disclosure” (Elwell, pg. 153). According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary inspiration is “something that makes someone want to do something or that gives an individual an idea by what to do or perhaps create: a force or perhaps influence that inspires someone”. God chose different people and influenced them by the O Spirit to publish certain terms. According to Walter A. Elwell, “the word theopneustos (2 Tim.

3: 16), literally God-“spirated” or breathed out, states that the living God is the author of Scripture and that Scripture may be the product of his innovative breath”(pg. 160). The scriptures are influenced by God for the purpose of communicating to all of us in assorted means for lots of different causes.

Inspiration is best described inside the scripture in which Elwell was referencing “breathed out”, in 2 Timothy 3: 16(AMP) says, Every Scripture can be God-breathed (given by His inspiration) and profitable to get instruction, to get reproof and conviction of sin, pertaining to correction of error and discipline in obedience, [and] for training in righteousness (in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action). For the Bible to become inerrant means that there are no errors in the text: quite simply something that may not be proven to be completely wrong. In the book, “Theology pertaining to Today”, says that “inerrancy recognizes that what The almighty revealed and inspired can be accurate, dependable, authoritative and without error”(Towns, 2008, pg. 29).

Describing the Bible while inerrant would be accurate, as the Bible’s phrases are breathed to life simply by God and may not be found false. In line with the article by Paul Feinberg called “Bible, Inerrancy of”, there is four main disputes for inerrancy. These quarrels are the Biblical Argument, the Historical Debate, the Epistemological Argument, plus the Slippery Slope Argument. I actually strongly believe the Biblical Argument that “states that people should have confidence in inerrancy for the reason that Bible shows its own inerrancy”.

If we while believers trust in God then we have to rely on what the Scriptures teaches. The Historical discussion says, “That the chapel has in the past believed in the inerrancy of Scripture, and so it is a regle with long-lasting support in tradition”(Feinberg, n. g. ). This argument is not as good because it is does not prove inerrancy but just shows the significance of scriptures. The Epistemological discussion is also not just a very strong 1, it essentially says “that is you reject inerrancy, you could have no sure foundation pertaining to knowledge whatsoever.

If they are not completely inerrant then one are not able to know which in turn scriptures are accurate and which are not really. The fourth argument for inerrancy is called the Slippery Incline Argument which usually “states that if you stop inerrancy, you will understand to give up increasingly more of the Christian faith till you (or those who arrive after you) end up denying central doctrines of the Christian faith”(Feinberg, in. d. ). This disagreement is another one which I truly rely on, the more you deny God’s and the Bible’s inerrancy a lot more likely you should be start denying other Christian doctrines. The partnership between inspiration and inerrancy is one which cannot be split up.

They go together. If like a believer, you feel the Scriptures is divinely inspired by God, there is no reason to trust that there are any kind of errors. Accepting the Bible’s authority, creativity, and inerrancy, allows me to fully know what God’s prepare is for warring.

If I were to choose to not believe in the phrase of The almighty, I would not be able to call personally a believer. God’s phrases have the case Authority around me and I allow the inerrancy and inspiration in the Bible to steer me during my daily walk together with the Lord.
