Significantly today, persons come into regular contact with people from different cultures and it’s crucial to learn to consult with people who might not share one common language, qualifications, and/or worldview. Each of us participates in at least one tradition, and most people are goods of a number of cultures Attending to our own tradition and history is really important as it helps all of us understand how were shaped by what we have skilled.

Even within just cultures, many of us have different attitudes and beliefs based on the experiences which will effect on the way all of us relate to people both appropriately and in our personal existence. Learning to value diversity, to be conscious of our ways of associated with each other and the ways of relating to us, would not come conveniently to most of us nor is that something that can be imposed from the outside. In Valuing Relationship (1995), Lewis Brown Griggs sums the interrelationship of learning ourselves and building romance with other folks as follows: “Knowing myself is what allows me to find out, understand, and value the diversity more so that I can build trust with them.

With more trust comes to be able to communicate more clearly, to problem solve and network more effectively, also to realize the importance of synergistic human relationships and effective interdependency. Together, investing in my own relationship with myself and enhancing my relationship with others are important insurance policies against lost possibilities. ” (page 210) Griggs, L. W. (1995).
