Premchand’s parents died small – his mother when he was seven and his father while he was fourteen and still a student.
Premchand was left responsible for his stepmother and step-siblings. Early on, Premchand faced immense lower income. He earned five rupees a month coaching a lawyer’s child.
He was married with the early age of fifteen although that matrimony failed, after he wedded again, to Shivrani Devi, a balavidhava (child widow), and had a lot of children. The girl supported him through life struggles. All this had serious effect on his wellness leading to his early loss of life on 9th October 1936, at the age of 56.  Writing style The main characteristic of Premchand’s writings is his interesting story-telling and usage of simple vocabulary. His works of fiction describe the problems of the non-urban peasant classes. He avoided the use of highly Sanskritized Hindi (as was the common practice among Hindi writers), and in addition Spanish dialect Literary functions Premchand offers written about 300 short testimonies, several books as well as various essays and letters.
He has also created some takes on. He as well did a few translations. Many of Premchand’s tales have been converted into English language and Russian. Godaan (The Gift of any Cow), his last novel, is considered the best Hindi new of all times.  The hero, Hori, a bad peasant, desperately longs for a cow, synonymous with wealth and prestige in rural India. Hori gets a cow but will pay with his life for it.
