The Crucible is actually a 1952 perform by the American playwright Arthur Miller. It is a dramatization in the Salem witch trials that took place in the Province of Massachusetts Bay during 1692 and 1693. Miller composed the perform as a story to McCarthyism, when the US government penalized accused communists. The Salem witch trials were a number of hearings before county court docket trials to prosecute people accused of witchcraft in the counties of Essex, Suffolk, and Middlesex in colonial Massachusetts, among February 1692 and May 1693.

Even though The Crucible is based on the Salem witch trials, they have differences such as, the partnership between Ruben Proctor and Abigail Williams, and the towns’ relationship with all the Putnam’s. In January of 1962 several adolescent ladies became fascinated with Tituba’s, the servant of Reverend Samuel Parris of Salem Community, stories of natural magic and island culture. A pair of the girls had been related to Samuel Parris, Abigail Williams and Betty Parris, while others were children of his supporters.

It is known that the young ladies were conjuring spirits and fell unwell. William Griggs, the town doctor, was called in when they failed to improve.

He diagnosed that Abigail and Betty had been bewitched, as a result starting the Salem Witch trials. Scared of being accused of witchcraft the girls therefore named the people who allegedly bewitched them. Anyone who knowledgeable any damage believed the outrageous accusations of the hysterical girls while confirmation of what they previously suspected. The play, The Crucible, is approximately a group of young ladies that go dancing in the forest using a black servant named Tituba. While moving, they are caught by the local minister, Reverend Parris. One of the girls, Parris’s daughter Betty, falls to a coma-like condition.

People collect in the Parris home when rumors of witchcraft fill up the town. With the fear of staying accused of witchcraft, the girls start accusing others of bewitching all of them. Abigail Williams was the mastermind behind all of the accusations. All the girls active in the “dancing accused anyone that asked a threat to all of them or have been suspected of doing anything poor. In turn, lots of people were charged of witchcraft and hanged. Although what really happened in the Salem Witch Tests and what was portrayed in the play, the Crucible, are similar they have a couple of differences.

1 difference is a relationship among John Proctor and Abigail Williams. In The Crucible, Abigail Williams was the servant of John Proctor until that they slept jointly and Abigail was dumped by John’s wife, Elizabeth Proctor. The real relationship among Abigail and John was nothing like that in the Crucible in fact; that they hardly a new relationship in any way. Another big difference is the romance between the city and Jones and Ann Putnam. Inside the Crucible, the Putnam’s were strongly resented. Arguments above land and power resulted in the hatred. The real romantic relationship wasn’t as bad.

The location still disliked them but the hatred wasn’t as solid as in the play. To conclude, The Crucible play and what genuinely happened are very different in terms of relationships, but are both based upon the same incidents. Today something like The Crucible would never happen, because people aren’t hanged anymore in America and witchcraft just isn’t as poor of a offense. Even though there was hardly any facts against the accused they were hanged anyways. Today, this would by no means happen since America’s proper rights system is more logical and fair so lies from young children will not blown out of proportion.
