Reading Response “Homemade Education” Essay

In the essay “A Homemade Education, ” Malcolm X begins with detailing the struggles of how he taught himself to read and write in prison simply using a dictionary and wrote by every night. This individual discusses just how his curiosity and resolve to be “able to read and understand”(Malcom 227). Literature has led him into a freedom which usually he had by no means felt prior to. As he implemented the theories of Elijah Muhammad, this individual found surprising interest in black history and slavery.
