Barriers to communicating with others from various backgrounds

Communication is essential between people of various cultures since it enables them to switch views, tips, and understand the behavioral characteristics that differentiate different people. Yet , due to the variants in culture, there are bound to be obstacles that make conversation difficult. A few of these include:

Dialect barriers: Occasionally, misunderstandings take place during communications between people speaking different languages. Precisely the same words may be assigned several meanings and words which might be mispronounced may also distort the knowledge being passed across. These kinds of assumptions tend to be negative plus they may lead to opinion and hatred that could generate communication challenging.

Ways to overcome communication barriers and improve intercultural communication skills

To get rid of these limitations, appreciation of other people’s cultures and tenderness to their landscapes and viewpoints is essential. There are three ways persons can enhance their intercultural interaction skills:

Learning other different languages

According to Samovar, Tenir, and Apple pc Daniel (2009), world communities have become more integrated, rendering it important for visitors to learn more than one language. This will help persons learn other cultures’ spoken and nonverbal communication. Samovar, Porter and MacDaniel also state that it can help reduce uncertainty that happen from language barriers, as it provides more insight into other’s beliefs and emotions.
