Inside the novel Of Mice and Men the theme of isolation and solitude can scarcely be overlooked as there are portions of them in key occasions in the story. Isolation and loneliness takes on a huge role in the tale and some of the points which will make this book a really gripping read, they also set things throughout that most people would not have imagined to begin with. George and Lennie play the biggest portion to the topics of isolation and seclusion.

When they 1st arrive at the ranch everyone is very surprised to see two itinerant workers travelling about together. The night before George and Lennie come to the ranch they are sitting down by the clean they say to each other Guys like us, basically on ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world That they don’t fit in no placeBut not all of us! Because I got one to look after me personally, and you received me to maintain you. ‘ George and Lennie’s dream of themselves running a ranch with each other and having a house with two separate bedrooms for every other, this in the day the book was drafted was incredibly strange individuals keep themselves to themselves and travel on their own they might do just about anything to share a living room with somebody just for the corporation.

But George and Lennie aren’t lonesome and they wish their own space away from other folks. All of the additional workers are generally not afraid to see George and Lennie that they can find it peculiar that two workers are travelling together and Lennie can only speak when George lets him. The ranch owner tells George that he will keep an eye on them mainly because George could possibly be trying to have something by George, such as his money.

This is a great example of just how people seriously considered workers travelling together. A great point about having friends on the hacienda is if you get in a fight you could have someone to stick up for you. An example of this is when Curley starts to hit Lennie he does nothing till George tells him that he can struck back and thus he will and Curley gets what he probably deserves.

The friendship that George and Lennie provides is very important especially to Lennie because the majority of people may not be able to deal with him becoming a pest and causing these to loose their particular previous task in marijuana due to Lennie doing a thing stupid. Whether it was not for people two close friends looking out for one another Lennie may possibly been killed a lot previously in the account and not simply by George. Curley’s wife is also a great example of loneliness and isolation around the ranch.

Steinbeck does not give her a name. Which makes her feel unimportant and she is not wanted, though she performs a big portion in the book about the themes of dreams and a way stops Lennie and George by getting their own dream of their own ranch. She’s the only woman on a ranch full of guys. This means that there exists an immediate perception of isolation because in the event any of the employees are caught flirting with her it will have trouble since Curley’s father is the farm owner and he can get the workers sacked if his son explains to him to, so Curley’s wife must stay in her house all day long and the only person the lady can really speak with is Curley.

Towards the end of the story when Curley’s wife can be talking to Lennie in the hvalp it is the new in the whole book when the lady actually provides a full dialogue with any individual. She opens up to Lennie and explains to him things that she has never advised anyone else before, probably mainly because she has no person else to talk to. She seriously lets her hair down’ and explains to him all kinds of things like the girl tells him that she does not like to only have to speak to Candy because she does not like him and that he can be not a great person.

The only reason why she married him was to ensure that she can escape her previous life’ at home. In addition, she says Think I don’t like to talk to somebody ever’ once in a while? Think I like to stick in that residence alla time. ‘ On the ranch Sweets is another ideal example of isolation and isolation. Because he is old and disabled the other employees have a unique attitude to him. His equivalent to a buddy on the ranch was hi there old dog.

Because his dog was old with out longer beneficial so they kill that. Candy expectations they capture him when he gets struggling to do any job. At the very end in the novel when ever Lennie offers killed Curley’s wife and Curley is hunting him down.

George is the that you kill Lennie because we were holding friends and he desired no body system else to shoot him. This reveals friendship even when Lennie has been doing something extremely bad involve that much his last moment George can still believe it is in his heart to be kind to Lennie.
