Gladiator comparison from your movie to actual

In the movie, several things portrayed are identical as what really happened in Roman history. Some things though, are a little different in the actual great Rome as compared to the movie. Maximus is barely equipped and protected. All he offers is a sword and defend I believe. The other guy has two swords, a mask for protection, and heavy armour. This shows how each kind of gladiator was to combat a different kind of gladiator hence the match will be even and fair.
