Novel

Boy Staunton and Claudius both share very similar ways of lifestyle. Both guys demonstrate a need for wealth, success, and power. Inside the novel 5th Business, Youngster Staunton are always characterized as being a privileged, ruined, and independent person. Right from the beginning, Young man reveals him self as somebody who sees themselves above all others. For example , Dunstan writes, “His parents were rich, his clothes had been fine, fantastic mittens had been of pores and skin and originate from a store inside the city, whereas mine were knitted by simply my mother” (Davies 1).

Kid’s ambition develops through the course of the new as he actually reaches for a life filled with more power and success than his father. Dunstan states, “Boy was fast becoming one of the really rich, in which I mean one particular men in whose personal profits [] stands behind them and cannot be measured, only estimated” (Davies 1). Boy’s entire life seems to include his riches, to such an extent that he contains a crumbling romance with his wife and never takes the time to increase himself being a person. As he is only focused on his ambitions, Son dies a tragic fatality the exact same person he was as a child. This same form of ambition is viewed in Hamlet as well. Claudius, the dad of Hamlet, shares similar desire for electric power as Young man Staunton. Claudius’s ambition pushes him to murder his own buddy to become the newest king of Denmark and marry his sister-in-law, Full Gertrude. The moment Hamlet can be speaking to the ghost, he can told, inch But find out, thou rspectable youth, /The serpent that did tingle thy father’s life/Now dons his crown” (1. 5. 38-40).

Hamlet finds that his uncle is definitely the murderer of his daddy and understands the great plans that he went through of stealing the substantial postion of power. Furthermore, Claudius later becomes progressively worried of Hamlet’s odd behaviour and frets that he may understand something about his crimes. To be able to preserve his title of king, Claudius sends Hamlet to Britain, saying it is for his own protection. However , his manipulative desire actually motivates him to deliver letters buying Hamlet to become killed. He is so enthusiastic about power that he can do anything to have it, regardless if it means eradicating his own family members. Claudius’s ambition goes even further when he attempts to poison Hamlet. However , his plan backfires and Gertrude dies instead. Hamlet says to Claudius, “Here, thou incestuous, homicidal ? bloodthirsty, damnèd Dane, /Drink away this concoction. Is thy union right here? /Follow my mother” (5. 2 . 320-322).

As a result of his failed scheme, Claudies dies too. Although Claudius’s desire for electricity is much more chaotic and serious than Kid’s, both personas prove that goal used in the wrong manner can lead to one’s own demise.
