The first aspect of this article that struck the author is how human beings began as hunter-gatherers of foodstuff, materials intended for shelter, and defense – and now humans are seeker gatherers of information. Just as hunting and gathering affected the kind of society humans were countless years ago, hunting and gathering information in the 21st century affects the kinds of societies present in the west in addition to other cultures that are technologically advanced as well as scientifically integrated to a substantial degree. While the components that we look may include changed, the urge and commitment to hunting and gathering remains solid in the human species.

The article is a standard meditation about ethics through the information grow older, now, and what the implications for values are with all the advent of technology that transform our daily lives. In this way, the main topic of this article is relevant. No matter at what reason for human history our company is in, technology affects humans on many levels which include socially, financially, politically, and otherwise. From early types of technology such as fire and writing, to current technology such as nanotechnology and cloud computing employ, challenge, and questions the ethics of the people who make it, distribute it, and employ it. Technology is normally an exercise in defining the ethics with the people who produce it and use it. Mason summarizes the main ethical questions in the information with an acronym: PAPA. Separated, PAPA is short for Privacy, Convenience, Property, and Accuracy. Privacy is one of the most apparent issues in the information era especially with severe issues such as identity theft and computer cracking generally speaking. Some of the greatest corporations have been cracked and these attacks have been published, such as the crackers (not to be confused with hackers) who entered companies such as Sony, Citibank, and News Corp (Fox).
