Dune simply by Frank HerbertFeb. 22/97

This book all started out with the friends and family Atreides getting on plant Arrakis, typically referred to as Dune. The entire world Dune was the centre in the universe due to the immense numbers of spice. This spice is definitely greatly required for all planets as gas and for unprocessed trash. The family members Atreides were asked simply by Emperor him self to go and mine the spice on earth. Their finest enemy the Harkonnens, were also on Crête. These two family members mining the precious piquancy on the same herb would result in great difficulties and wars.

Soon after that, I was introduced to a very fearless and useful young man. The young man can be Paul Atreides. Paul is definitely medium level with short, black curly hair. His mother Jessica is a Bene Gesserit that means the lady knows the weirding method. This means Jessica is trained to kill which is also qualified as a mind reader. She’s very tall and gorgeous and is often concerned with the actions of Paul, the future ruler of the galaxy.

Jessicas teacher, the Reverend Mother heard of Paul and thought that all he might always be the great head that the prophets told of. The Reverend Mother arrived at Dune and tested Paul to see if this is so. Paul underwent great pain and suffering although passed the tests while using highest view. Duke Leto, Pauls dad now came into the picture. Having been the leader of the Atreides Family members. He appeared very proven and perceptive. The Atreides family showed good and honesty although their opponents, the Harkonnens, were questionable killers.

The Harkonnen residence planet, Gedi Prime was very destitute and darker. It showed the immorality and night within the Harkonnens. Their head Baron Vladimir Harkonnen was very obese and inhuman. He killed his personal slaves for fun and resented the Atreides with a enthusiasm. He resented their relaxing and genuine ways. Primarily he despised their coming to Dune. This kind of Harkonnen innovator appeared the normal tyrant head. Vladimir Harkonnens most trusted solider Feyd-Rautha was also like him apart from his physical appearance was that of ideal form and contact form.

Back at the Atreides base more characters are introduced to myself. They are Duncan Idaho who had been the personal trainer for Paul Atreides, Doctor Yeuh who was a good good friend of the Duke and later was found out as a traitor, and Thufir Hawat the security officer of the foundation. All these men seemed tremendously trusted inside the Atreides family. They taught Paul very much about preventing and protecting himself coming from his opponents. These men along with Pauls mother and father helped prepare him for the coming hardships forward. A group of people named the Fremen also were presented. These people were people who lived in the wasteland within the banned zone. The forbidden zone was in which no one might ever travel. It was stated that there are huge masses of Fremen there along with huge sandworms reaching a length of four hundred and forty five meters. The Fremen farmed spice, lived in the metropolitan areas and in subterranean cities. Their particular eyes were bright blue on blue due to the saturation of the spice which altered their colour.

The beginning of this guide was really interesting and explained much about each personas background and personality. I knew there was clearly something special about Paul and his mom right from the start by simply how the creator described them. The family members Atreides was very strong and feared by Emperor him self because he realized that Paul was the prophet who was destined to stop almost all violence, craving for food, spice exploration, armies and fighting. He was to bring a new era together with his leadership. This frightened the Emperor that forced him to act against the Atreides family.

The Harkonnens seemed a tad too uninteresting and average in my experience. They were evil and hated all that was good. Mcdougal should of added a little more spice to their characters. This may of manufactured the story more enjoyable. Otherwise, this kind of science fiction novel is similar to it says on the cover, A world away from experience, away from imagination.
