Mass incarceration of African Americans is one of the biggest problems that all of us as a culture face today. Many of our Black men happen to be either in jail, or on losung for criminal activity that are committed by white wines everyday. Law enforcement officials often overlook those crimes when it comes down to whites but they usually do not for blacks. Hence how come a lot of black guys are absent from our contemporary society and locked away in prisons for a long time for this sort of minuscule crimes. Yes they have committed a crime and need to be punished, but , at the same time white men will be walking around committing the same criminal offenses, where is their abuse? Alexander increases these extremely pertinent points in “The New John Crow.
