Lone Survivor

Lone Survivor was written by Marcus Luttrell shortly after his service being a Navy SEAL OFF in Afghanistan. With support from Patrick Robinson, Luttrell was able to write this incredibly detailed account of how this individual overcame one of the daunting situations in his career as a Navy Seal.

The book begins with Luttrell conveying his years as a child in Asian Texas, explaining how he looked up to his expert father and was always willing to work hard. Pushed by simply his Daddy and older brother Morgan, he grew up to become Navy Seal. Luttrell describes the training he previously to go through in order to be a SEAL and the power it took him to finish the BUDS(Basic Underwater Demolition) program, one of the hardest six months of his your life. During that process he observed many people quit and decided that he would certainly not be like all of them. Once this individual graduated while Navy SEAL OFF, he went one different missions and was powerful, Until the night of June 26th 2005 where he faced one of the most difficult objective of all. Having been sent over a mission with four of his the majority of trusted seals, Danny Dietz, Michael Murphy and Matthew Axelson. There mission was known as opperation Red Side, and it had been to capture or perhaps kill a taliban leader associated with Osama bin stuffed. They were to find high cover within the mountains and try to take him by a far range. Around the mountainous terrain they encountered difficulty searching for a good angle to capture this needed man. That they had to stay for a longer time than expected and came across a trio of goat herders that had been under age group and from the village they had under goal. They had two options. To let them

escape, being aware of they will return to the small town and give an army of warriors with their location, or to kill these people which could had been morally wrong. They chose to let them move and try to escape the mountains before they were encircled. Soon enough these were quickly between eighty men. They had little cover and no access to the camp where that they had come from. They’d to fight in the many valiant way in order to make it through. They fought for hours against heavy cannon in the rugged terrain. In no time Luttrell needed to see his friends have hits and finally die 1 by 1, giving presently there lives up with regard to there “brothers”. Completely by itself and terribly injured, Luttrell had to cover in order to endure this strike. Eventually Luttrell was helped by a person named Gulab, who occupied a community down the mountainside. This Bedcover man chanced his existence helping Luttrell because the Taliban wanted to destroy Luttrell and would whatever it takes to take him from that village. The publication ends while using other Finalizes rescuing him from the community and eradicating the Taliban fighters that had ornamented the community.

The Characters with this book happen to be Danny Dietz, Michael Murphy Matthew Axelson and of course Marcus Luttrell. These three daring men risk everything to the actual moral issue and let a couple of kids get away. Danny Dietz was “A little reserved, but below he could be incredibly funny and was a lovely natured person”(p182). Michael Murphy was identified by Luttrell as a trustworthy person who could get the job carried out. Mathew Axelson was a strong hard operating man who always got his back again. These three men battled valiantly against all odds, eventually quitting their lives for america.

We don’t relate to any of these heroes who risked there lives in a valiant and courageous effort to try and save the lives of their fellow soldiers. They are also Navy SEALS, which is the hardest armed forces position you can be. It takes power, will power, dedication and years or

training in order to be a Navy SEAL. I also respectable their decision making when choosing how to handle the goat herders they encountered.

The book’s theme is the fact sometimes you regret the top choices is made in life. This is best seen in Luttrells producing

“I looked at Mickey mouse right in the eye, and stated, “We have to let na go” It was the stupidest most southern-fried, lame brained, decision I possess ever made around me. I must have already been out of mind head. I had basically cast a vote that i knew can sign each of our death cause. “(p206). The book shows how a single mans decision can alter the course of his life and may either trigger him to regret it like in the case of Marcus Luttrell or continue a regular existence.

We liked that the book was written in the eyewitness perspective. This was for the reason that battle between taliban fighters and Navy SEALs was very detailed and even a little gruesome. This detail was interesting to see all about, learning about the dangers of conflict and what brave persons actually have to undergo for this country. I couldnt like the reality in the end the decision he made, wound up killing his fellow troops. It must be difficult for Lattrell going through that guilt daily. I would recommend this guide because their action jam-packed and reveals the comprehensive story of how one person survived a lot trials and pain.
