Strolling alone at night, for some, can seem like a relaxing thing to do, to help clear a person’s head and let the day’s troubles go away into the darker. For others, though, the night can be when a person feels one of the most alone and must face their own demons. Robert Frost makes the evening become that dark, grim and disappointing time in which usually people reflect on themselves in his poem “Acquainted with the Night”.

The first time studying the composition, one simply thinks one is taking a walk at night inside the city, sticking to themself when ever meeting the watchman and listening to the sounds around the streets around, all the while keeping time by the moon while flying as to when to head back residence. But , when taking a closer look, the reader can begin to see the pain, grief and the bad feeling the speaker offers about life itself, the impression of being by itself and seeking it to remain that way. It also shows that the speaker isn’t the only person with pain and grief on this night. The theme of Robert Frost’s composition “Acquainted with all the Night” can be depression and grief in the speakers’ personal life.

Ice tells us this by using meaning and tone in the lines of the composition. “I have got walked in rain – and last rain. ” The second line in the composition tells someone that what ever troubles the speaker has or has received is so much for this person, that when they will walk in the night time, it doesn’t matter what the next thunderstorm is, they will walk and walk and last and last through the rainwater, trying to away walk all their troubles. The rain can also symbolize lifestyle itself, usually pouring one thing after one other on a person, 1 stress following another, 1 heartache after another, and frequently no matter how strong a person is, they will never move away from that rainfall.

The following line, “I possess outwalked the furthest town light. ” tells you, in the textual sense, that the speaker also does not care about the distance concerning which they will walk to try and leave their troubles lurking behind. Or it could symbolize it does not matter how far a person goes in life, often there is trouble waiting around. I have viewed down the saddest city isle. ” reveals the reader that the speaker, even though physically exclusively, isn’t everything that alone inside the grimness of life. The lane the speaker is looking down provides the reader the picture that it is run down, abandoned nearly and even probably poverty stricken.

The reader perceives that the presenter isn’t the only person with problems and depression, it surrounds the speaker but the he sees himself as only in that he is wrapped up in his own thoughts and thoughts. Even when the speaker passes the watchman on the treet, he doesn’t want to clarify why he is out during the night and does away with his sight so that might be he will make do without being halted. The speaker wants to maintain your solitude he has in the mind undamaged so he wants to avoid even speaking to the watchman.

The lines 7 through 10 get more detailed of the speakers’ feelings of solitude and isolation although he is out in the night: “I have was still and stopped the sound of feet When a long way away an interrupted cry Came up over properties from another street, however, not to phone me back or say good-bye; ” The 7th line shows that the loudspeaker really is on their own out there when walking; you will discover no additional sounds of folks walking or perhaps going about in the street he is going for walks down. The speaker walking alone reflects how he feels in the everyday life, alone, no one to walk with him and take on the troubles of life. But , he isn’t too far from others because he can hear a cry from another lost spirit dealing with their own turmoil.

The lines eight to 9 make the whole poem come across as almost horrific, because the audience then magic what kind of cry would it be that the audio is ability to hear? Is the appear of a lot of crime? Or simply another person in and coping with their own heck? Then the final lines with the poem bring home the abnormal tone from the entire piece.

Line 14, “And further more still in a unearthly height” symbolizes how a speaker sees how placed safely out of the way and out of touch he is with his surroundings and possibly with life itself. The lines 12 and 13, “One luminary clock up against the sky / Proclaimed enough time was neither wrong neither right. ” makes the audience feel the dark tone in the poem more. The reader, at this time, is brought closer to learning the speaker’s a sense of loneliness and solitude since that is just how most people think, no matter if it is, it is hardly ever the right time or maybe the wrong time for almost anything. Seems as if you can almost never make the right phone as to if you should do something in your daily course that is significant.

The line 13 makes the target audience wonder if the speaker can be considering committing suicide, that the audio is questioning if the period is at any time right for assigning suicide, or perhaps is it ever right for living life. The repeated line “I have been one particular acquainted with this individual night” since the initially and last lines from the poem is the final part that really pieces the develop of night for the poem all together. Night is often acquainted with night, scary things, loneliness, isolation, unhappiness as well as depression.

And so the simple line brings to light the deepness of the lack of ability of the audio not being able to look for things in keeping with individuals around him, not being able to open up and discuss him self and his emotions and thoughts. He offers known difficulties and discomfort, and doesn’t know how to leave it behind, thus he holds it with him to ensure that even in daytime, he seems as if he’s always in the darkness of night. General, Frost’s composition “Acquainted while using Night” is a poem which can be taken only literally, or perhaps symbolically.

It depends on the sort of outlook on life every person that reads the poem has. A lot of might not begin to see the symbolism with the feelings of darkness, remoteness and tremendous grief, while others view it right away. But either way, you can still go through the dark tone of the poem whether it is the very first time reading this, or the hundredth, just from the beginning and ending lines, “I have been 1 acquainted with the night”.
