Minecraft Reflection

I thought the lesson in Minecraft was obviously a creative way to engage college students with technology while keeping them motivated to learn a new lesson in their classroom. In the beginning, the majority of seemed hesitant to work in Minecraft because there was obviously a stigma the game was for children (myself included). Yet , there was a lot to explore hanging around that each course, students were excited to sign up and still work on their lessons. Students in the class were creating ideas for lessons that hardly ever seemed feasible to total on a computer game. This was a fantastic learning encounter because i am thinking about how this can be implemented within a French or Spanish class setting.

I actually changed and developed the learning experience during the process of creating my lessons. At first, I believed that building the world will be easy and seamless, but trying to accommodate to the needs of everyone in my group was irritating. Overall nevertheless , this project showed myself how any technology could possibly be used to motivate and interest students to master about a theme that might not seem also interesting. We mastered the right way to do basic tasks in minecraft, which exact process will happen in real life as well. As I get older, there will be even more technologies that I’m not familiar with that I must integrate in to my class in order to maintain the interests of my students. I learned to be even more open with unfamiliarity which will the help of colleagues that are more advanced, simple duties could turn into entire lessons. Minecraft displayed Egypt very well as it was possible for students to determine physical differences in structures. There is also space to incorporate activities including boat race in Egypt. This interactivity can’t be present in a lecture on Pyramids or while you’re watching a documented. Also once seeing the other groups’ videos and lessons, it showed me how you will discover multiple means of approaching every single lesson. Not only one group was your same and there was a wave of creativity when seeing different ways every single group decided to design their lessons.

The use of minecraft in the classroom deepened everyone’s understanding of the technology itself, just how other technology can be applied in the classroom, plus the various issues that could come up in a classroom. Some benefits were: I was able to build a mock lesson and for a lesson plan while using the a new technology in the classroom and worked in groups and divided the effort into equal sectors. Some disadvantages, nevertheless , were the negatives that come along with using systems. Though the software program was totally free, many students experienced problems downloading it for their laptops. Likewise, getting everyone connected to the same server invested some time out of class where we’re able to have been building or discussing issues. On the other hand overall, the knowledge was great and it taught myself what to expect in my years to come like a teacher.
