Describe a personality that interests you in The Excess fat Man and explain so why that personality interested you. Colin a 12 year old boy interested me from your book The Fat Man by Maurice Gee. Colin is actually a hungry son caught up by effects of the Depression.

He learns from the fat guy that his dad was obviously a bully in school and the fat man desires revenge for what they did to him. Lieu noir is interesting because of the period he hails from and because he has to master truths regarding his father and mother and being brave and helping Verna.

We learn from the book that Colin is a famished skinny 12 year old youngster who is constantly desperate for food. As it was the Depression there were not enough cash to buy food to eat. Laurie (Colin’s father) has difficulties finding a job and achieving enough cash to supply his friends and family. In the book this tells us that Colin is actually a hungry son with the quote “Colin Potter was a hungry boy. The other quotation “They were hard times. There were hungry times inform us that Colin’s dad cannot find a job and get cash that they need to acquire food plus they were quite hungry when Laurie couldn’t earn money.

I believed this was interesting as it is not the same as how children nowadays are being lifted in Fresh Zealand and having enough food for the entire family to acquire plenty to replenish their very own hunger while we are hungry. It is difficult to imagine just how New Zealand children had been like during the Depression, hungry for meals. Colin is usually interesting because he has a intimidating encounter with all the fat gentleman and understands that he wants vengeance for being teased by Colin’s father in school. Colin meets the fat man on the creek. Body fat man keeps him back again even though he doesn’t need to and discovers Merlu had stolen his chocolate.

The fat person soon finds out that Maisie and Laurie were Colin’s parents. Body fat man tells Colin regarding his father and mother. How his father teased him for school and farting and blaming anything on the fat man. Laurie and his good friends also ejected sandwiches everyday at the fat man and made him consume them. “I cried also, everyday for a year. Pottsie liked it. It tells us that Laurie made body fat man weep as he bullied him everyday for a year and the fat man resented it a lot. The second offer “Then that they had spit in it, Throw sandwich was its name.

I actually ate some of those everyday. The fat person had to go through Laurie and his friends spitting sandwiches about him every day and this individual didn’t want it. It is very interesting seeing just how Colin handles truths about his dad. In Colin’s eyes, his father seemed smaller to him at this point. Colin is definitely a interesting youngster as he was very kind and supportive towards Verna when your woman had crisis. Despite Lieu noir being extremely afraid of body fat man and the bullies in school, Merlu stands up pertaining to Verna and walks her home even though he sees that the Grain gang is going to get him soon.

Lieu noir walks home with Verna. The offer in the book can be “I’ll walk with you which was extremely kind of him even though he didn’t need to. Colin’s bravery to my opinion makes him a very interesting character. Colin is a very interesting character with this whole tale. He overcomes his anxiety about the fat guy and the bullies at school because he was a kind boy and wanted to help Verna. I likewise learnt even more about the Depression ” how many people cannot find jobs and therefore their own families could not afford food.
