Myth of the Unit Family The image of the version family is wonderful, a housewife-mother, a breadwinner father, a few kids and a pet or two. Certainly the truth is there is no such thing because the “perfect” family. 1 family simply cannot represent all the variation of family members all around the world. The universal elemental family is precisely the same with the stay-at-home mother, the breadwinner daddy, a couple of children and maybe a pet or two. Ideally, people want to see what a family needs to be or behave like, but not most people are the same. So the thought of two dads, or two mothers, is a unusual thing to determine on a tv program. But who have in the mass media decides what a family is? The media has a lot of impact over that which we think children is.

For example , Soto’s idea of his family being perfect came from him watching Father Knows Greatest. It provided him the idea that there is a selected way a household should work that this individual “so very much wanted to replicate it” (26). Every one has his or hers personal definition of how family is. Soto’s idea of a family, was given by media, not really his extra income. In Soto’s family there is a difference involving the American family and other families. Soto’s family ate “beans and tortillas in the stifling heat of [the] kitchen” (27).
