O depictions of Muslim traditions in the press make that seem that every Muslim girls live in a Harem, subsequent orders from other tyrannical husbands. On the contrary, a large number of Muslim cultures have provided women equal rights inside the law in addition to the culture. The Quran does not counsel the subjugation of women simply by men; in fact the Quran is arguably more egalitarian compared to the Old Testament upon which the two Judaism and Christianity will be based. Several passages inside the Quran can be interpreted since advocating gender equality. If the Quran has become misinterpreted simply by some Islamic societies then it is certainly not the because of Islam although of corrupt political leaders. Seeking to establish clear-cut man dominance over women, such nefarious market leaders have removed women of their innate individual rights such as owning property. Those sexist practices are not part of Islam but element of political routines that perspective the religion.

Muslim ladies are often open and forthright in their vérité, and have been receivers of honours as prestigious as the Nobel Prize. Historically, Muslim women have already been scholars and mystics, doctors and scientists. They are only some belly dancers, harem young ladies, or mothers living in souterrain with eight children in their ft. Islam has got the potential to become one of the most egalitarian religious customs in the world. Offering women many social, economical, and political advantages, Islam produces a few of the world’s most powerful women. Regrettably, however , American societies dubiously portray Islam. Focusing on the anomalies rather than the realities of daily life, Western culture presumes superiority simply by pointing a finger by Muslim customs.

The veil is one of the principal targets of Western critics of Islam. Muslim girls are urged to take off their veil or their traditional headdress as a sign of their liberation. Yet becoming liberated does not necessarily have to mean bowing down to Western cultural best practice rules. Muslim women are not actually hiding in back of the veil and many are certainly not forced to wear it but decide on so as a great emblem of personal pride. Very much as a girl in Western culture chooses to wear high heel pumps, a Muslim ladies does not actually feel or perhaps act submissively when the girl wraps a shawl over notice head and otherwise dresses modestly. Appropriately, the veil has led Westerners to make assumptions about that that they cannot quickly see in Muslim world.

Criticizing Islam for being socially backward is actually a tool of imperialism, proving that American cultures always impose their very own values on others. Furthermore, Muslim societies are far by being homogenous and some are usually more egalitarian than others. European societies will need to explore the realities of Muslim customs and civilizations before making quilt statements that perpetuate stereotypes.
