Excerpt from Term Newspaper:

In their book, Progress in Modern Psychology: The Legacy of yankee Functionalism, Owens and Wagner (1992) suggest that contemporary psychology reflects one common vision in the naturalistic construction that was first inspired simply by William Wayne and later sophisticated by David Dewey, Wayne Rowland Angell, Harvey Carr, among others. On this factor, Owens and Wagner argue that one of the important contributors to early functionalism was John Dewey. In sharp comparison to the previously mentioned structuralist strategy which would analyze a scenario into its continent parts, Dewey believed that sensation as well as the subsequent electric motor responses could not be legally separated, but rather comprised a much more linear research that supplied a coordinated response to a given condition (Owens Wagner, 1992).

Behaviorism.

According to Zuriff (1985), behaviorism is definitely not technology of patterns (consisting of findings, principles, laws, and theories which might be formulated through the study of behavior) but rather provides a conceptual framework in which the assumptions, principles, and presuppositions that support this research can be assessed more fully. While behaviorism is known as a comprehensive structure, there are several key parts involved:

Behaviorism provides researchers with assistance concerning what kinds of psychological questions are worth pursuing and what strategies and concepts are considered acceptable for this purpose;

Behaviorism, as a philosophy of mind, provides some assumptions regarding human nature and also about the main workings from the mind; and

There are several significant empirical presumptions involved in behaviorism such as presumptions about behaviours and their romance to the environment, as well as a paradigm concerning the family member effectiveness of numerous methods in scientific research and theorizing (Zuriff, 1985).

According to this author, contrary to the structuralism and functionalist approaches, the highly scientific hypotheses that comprise the backdrop theory to get behaviorism could possibly be significantly different from one another.
