Child obesity is actually a serious epidemic in America. One in every three kids in America is obese. Michelle Obama speaks in the launch with the “Lets Move” campaign. Facing cabinet affiliate, senators, representatives and mayors, she talks about the campaign’s plans to fight overweight in America. The best work should be deployed to stop this epidemic that degrades the lives and future of our kids by arming parents with the tools they require, equipping the school systems with much healthier foods, making healthier foods available for our communities, and getting our kids to exercise more.

Ms. Obama understands that only a few parents have necessary tools to make the right choices for youngsters.

Even if the father and mother read a label on the food item, they could not know what it means. The “Task Force on Child Obesity ” movement will help to make meals labels “consumer friendly” so parents will make better alternatives when buying meals. The “Task Force in Child Obesity ” will also help parents understand that they can be responsible for building healthy patterns in their kids, such as exercise.

However , when the youngsters are at college the parents are not able to control everything their children eat.

Our educational institutions do not provide healthy foods to the kids. Two times a day away kids take in unhealthy meals served at the schools. Ms. Obama stated “If our children are not receiving adequate diet, even the finest teachers will never be able to teach them effectively”(Obama 331). The children need more fruits and vegetables in their diet. The “Child Nutrition Act” would give the school much healthier standards. It would replace clear calorie meals with more fruits and vegetables, the vegatables and fruits they need for effective learning and head functions. If the school are feeding our kids unhealthy foods 2 times a day, it would undo the healthy eating habits learned at your home. Once each of our schools start to serve the healthy foods our children need, the next thing would be to ensure the parents get access to healthy food choices and not fast food eating places.

Not all areas have food markets nearby to deliver the community with healthy foods. If we invest 500 million dollars to build grocery stores around the nation, we could eradicate “food deserts” in our neighborhoods. Not only will it give the parents a better choice above fast food restaurants, but it will likely create jobs. Once the youngsters are getting the nutrition they require, at home and at school, the last stage is to get these to exercise more. Motivating our children to exercise can be done in a variety of ways. Providing more “Presidential Active Way of life Awards” to kids whom complete a certain exercise program is a superb start. Hiring NFL, WMBA and other professional athletes is another way we will certainly motivate our kids to get more workout. Child obesity is destroying the future of our children, but Ms. Obama sets out how we could end it.

By initiating the “Task Power on Child Obesity “, upgrading cafeteria food in schools, removing “food deserts”, and motivating out youngsters to work out we can stop this growing epidemic. Ms. Obama efficiently communicates her concerns and solutions in her speech. She also provides great examples as to why the fogeys are not often aware towards the problem could have the alternatives to help the problem. Although her intentions are very well placed, Now i’m not convinced that her approach to fixing child overweight is the most successful. Something should be done and if not more than that is being performed about the obesity issue at least this will raise awareness.
