Nursing

The introduction of nursing informatics was inevitable. To tell the truth, nursing informatics is a growing discipline, understood to be the “use of information technologies in relation to these functions within the purview of nursing, which are carried out by nurses when conducting their responsibilities. Consequently , any use of information technology by nursing staff in relation to the care of all their patients, the administration of health care establishments, or the educational preparation of individuals to practice the discipline is regarded as nursing informatics (Turley, 1999).

Nursing is a clinical discipline using a focus on information or expertise. Therefore, nursing informatics, too, is targeted on the easy access of essential information to nurses. Indeed, medical informatics has the power to adopt all bits of information that a nurse could require anytime. Unique patient data or info on medicines that’s needed is by a registered nurse at any given time, the help that technology can provide in accessing required information, can not be discounted. No longer does the nurse have to flip through “book following book to find needed information at a time of emergency.

No longer does he or she have to go searching for doctors when electric communication is ready to ease the functioning of healthcare establishments (Nelson, 2005). Nursing informatics also enables teaching nursing staff to convey . education more effectively to their juniors. It’s true, after all, that information technology provides for accurate information to be kept and retrieved. As a result, Meadows (2002) predicts a growing use of information systems in the healthcare profession. We would add to the conjecture that as nursing informatics is a ground-breaking use of technology in health-related, all areas of patient proper care (including my personal own) would benefit tremendously by the use. Errors will probably be checked more easily by ideal use of IT. Actually, I foresee a general improvement in healthcare as a immediate consequence of nursing informatics.
