English Task In this picture, Othello and Desdemona happen to be sharing a separate moment of affection after being re-united in Cyprus. Both are wearing white garments, synonymous with purity, and framed within a black background. Othello’s white-colored uniform clashes with the color of his skin accentuating his grinning feature, power and royal stature.

In the darkness behind them is the watching figure of Iago who may be smirking. Othello calls her “My soul’s joy which will describes the depth of his love that Desdemona is innate to his whole being.

He gives “If every tempest comes such calms/ May the winds blow till they may have wakened death. This sarcastic comment foreshadows the horrific fate that awaits them both. Desdemona replies “The heavens forbid/ But that our loves and comforts ought to increase/ Even while our days and nights do grow. This shows her spiritual convictions plus the sanctity with their union. This kind of image explores the idea that Othello feels endless love to get Desdemona which later transforms into infinite rage and hatred throughout the jealousy made by the scheming Iago.

This picture also represents Iago’s manipulative character and through this, shows Othello’s naivety.

Iago has already mentioned his situation as a damaging force to get Othello’s life. He is using animalistic and racist images to deter Brabantio coming from allowing the relationship to continue. Because Othello becomes weakened by Iago’s innuendos, Iago becomes more specific in the proofs, blantantly lying about Cassio’s behaviour.
